Fremantle are unchanged for the third time in four games as the Dockers look to pile on the pain for a beleaguered Carlton in their Len Hall tribute game.
With Sean Darcy picking up a calf injury during his rehabilitation from concussion, Mason Cox will have another chance to stake his claim for the No.2 ruck spot despite an underwhelming western derby debut.
Cox had just four disposals and 13 hit-outs in what was described as a “servicable” performance by coach Justin Longmuir but will want to do more to lockdwon his place with Darcy out indefinitely.
Longmuir also revealed Hayden Young had some general soreness in his first game back from a hamstring issue, the left-footer also has no issues named to start on the field.
The Blues were forced into three changes from their tough loss to Collingwood, following Elijah Hollands’ well-documented mental health episode, while star forward Harry McKay suffered a concussion, while ruck Marc Pittonet suffered a hand injury.
It means former Docker Liam Reidy will now face the daunting task of taking on two premiership ruckmen in Cox and Luke Jackson, though Longmuir said they would not underestimate him.
“He’ll know our guys, and we know him pretty well,” Longmuir said of Reidy this week.
“His ruck work has always been strong. He probably just didn’t get opportunities at our club because of who was ahead of him.
“His follow-up is strong. Expect him to crack in hard and complement a really strong midfield for them.”
Reidy made three senior appearances for the Dockers across as many seasons after being picked up in the 2023 rookie draft.
Having made his way to Carlton during last year’s trade period in search of greater opportunity, he was picked for the Blues’ season opener but hasn’t featured at the top level since.
The Dockers are hunting a sixth consecutive win which would see the club match their longest winning run since their all-time best streak of nine during their campaign as minor premiers in 2015.
