House That! Narrow masterpiece around six metres wide in Fremantle seeks $4 million

It may be one of WA’s most narrow homes, but a Fremantle property that is about six metres wide is pulling in multi-million dollar offers.
The property is described — quite aptly — as a masterpiece of engineering and art, with floor-to-wall windows across much of the house offering views over the Indian ocean and Fremantle Harbour.
Marine-grade steel is used on the wave-like exterior in a nod to the sea and area’s shipping history.
Perth architect Lou Cotter designed it about a decade ago after being inspired by the Walt Disney concert hall in LA by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
And the result packs a punch much bigger than the 9.5m width of the 376sqm block of land.

The three-bedroom, four-toilet home manages to offer 500sqm of living space area across its three levels.
Water is a big focus of the property, with its infinity lap pool and 220-degree ocean views from the home, as well as the mini moat around one of the bedrooms. A curved wave tub and a ship-shaped sink continues the nautical theme in the house.

Perhaps one of the most clever aspects of the home is that it offers different moods, from the sunlit kitchen to the darker wood bedrooms and a tranquil library. It includes French oak, jarrah and travertine flooring.
The home has parking for three cars, and is selling through agent Vee Po for $4m.
