City fall to Dynamos 4-2

Despite a second-half brace of goals by promising winger John Nguyen, CMI Busselton City suffered a 4-2 loss to Dynamos on Sunday.

Though City started in the worst way imaginable by conceding a goal in the third minute, their work ethic got them back into the game in the first half.

In particular the ball-playing of David McGuiness and the mobility of Patrick Sheehan continually posed problems for the Dynamos’ defence.

However, a second-half lapse in concentration allowed the opposition to double their lead before Nguyen clinically reduced the arrears.

In the last 20 minutes, Dynamos grabbed two further goals before McGuiness provided Nguyen with an opportunity that was delightfully finished.

The men’s reserves team were unable topple Dynamos despite a disciplined first half.

After a scoreless first half thanks to the commitment of defenders Dan Dewaal, Ben Fish, Lachlan McLeod and Lockie Nuttarelli-Hall, Busselton fell away.

Dynamos made the better use of time and space on the ball to record a 2-0 win.

Five goals in the opening 25 minutes provided the platform for the Sportspower Busselton City Premier women in their comfortable 9-1 win over Dynamos.

With the dangerous Asha McClurg creating havoc wide on the right, the unbeaten record of the locals was never in doubt.

Leading 6-1 at the break, Busselton were made to work harder in the second spell as the deteriorating weather proved unsuitable for high-possession soccer.

Ariana Dawson (4), Chenaye Wright (3) and Siobhan Longmore (2) all found the back of the net.
