Updates: Monday was one of the most significant days in Yung Filly’s high-profile rape trial, with the rapper taking the witness stand.
After days of evidence from the complainant and other witnesses, the 30-year-old rapper - whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos - gave evidence in his own defence on day six of his WA District Court trial.
The British man is accused of raping a young Perth fan following a gig at Bar1 Nightclub in Hillarys on September 28, 2024.
He has pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of impeding someone’s normal breathing.
The West Australian’s court reporter Jessica Evensen was inside the courtroom to report every key moment, development and piece of evidence as it unfolds.

Defence finishes case
The defence has finished their case, with defence lawyer David Edwardson KC confirming he would not be calling upon any other defence witnesses.
The jury will hear closing addresses from the prosecution and defence on Tuesday morning.
Judge Linda Black said the jury could expect to begin deliberations on Wednesday.
Yung Filly’s security guard denies talking to rapper about woman’s sexual performance
During his evidence, Mr Ali said he arrived at Mr Barrientos’ room to escort the woman after the alleged incident, but said they did not talk about her sexual performance.
He also said the young woman appeared to be “smiling.”
The court was previously told that after the hookup, Mr Barrientos allegedly told Mr Ali: “(The complainant) wasn’t good in bed ... I don’t know if she was into it, or if she didn’t have enough to drink.”
Mr Ali said he followed the woman out of the hotel because he “wanted to make sure she got home safe.”
He said he did not see any injuries on the woman’s face or neck.
Ms Clarke put to Mr Ali that he was making up his evidence to support Mr Barrientos.
He denied the claim.
Yung Filly’s security guard to give evidence
Mr Barrientos’ private security guard, Muhammad Ali, has been called as a defence witness and is set to give evidence this afternoon.
‘She meant absolutely nothing to you’: State prosecutor
Ms Clarke said Mr Barrientos showed such little respect to the woman, he did not walk her out of the hotel to her Uber.
“You didn’t walk her out because she meant absolutely nothing to you,” she said.
But Mr Barrientos rejected the claim, saying: “I wouldn’t say that ... I wasn’t wanting her to be my girlfriend, but there was a level of respect.”
“I respected her presence.”
But Ms Clarke hit back and said: “You did not care for (the complainant) for one minute after you left the hotel.”
“You bit her hard to her face, neck and breast, such that she asked you to stop ... you choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe, and you slapped her four times to the left side of her face.”
Mr Barrientos denied the allegations.
Yung Filly denies hurting young woman during one night stand
Mr Barrientos has rejected allegations he hurt a young woman during sex.
“There was no ‘ows’, there was no ‘stops, there was no ‘your hurting me’s,’” he told the court.
Rapper reacts to injury photos
The court was shown several photographs of bruising on the young woman’s neck and cheek.
Ms Clarke questioned Mr Barrientos why he bit the young woman on her face, and asked whether he was “trying to brand her.”
But Mr Barrientos insisted the marks were “love bites”, and said the woman appeared to be enjoying herself because she was “moaning.”
He said “love bites” often involved using his teeth and tongue.
“(The teeth) press down on your skin as you suck ... I know when you suck, I’m guessing your teeth leave an imprint on the skin,” he said.
Yung Filly didn’t ask woman about sexual boundaries
During cross-examination, Ms Clarke questioned whether Mr Barrientos asked the young woman about her sexual boundaries.
He replied: “No, it was consensual sex”.

The WA District Court has resumed after the lunch break.
Mr Barrientos is back on the witness stand, with Ms Clarke continuing her cross-examination this afternoon.
