Two children have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by vehicles in separate collisions on Friday afternoon.

It is understood a child had just left the East Waikiki Primary School when they were hit by a black Honda at 3.05pm on the corner of Willmott and Grange Drive in Cooloongup.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, with a St John ambulance taking the injured child to Rockingham Hospital under lights and sirens.

The child is in a critical condition and has since been transferred to Perth Children’s Hospital.

The collision happened near Cooloongup Primary School with the school posting to social media about the importance of road safety.

“While the student is not from Cooloongup Primary School, our thoughts and prayers are with the student and their family at this difficult time,” the post read.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind all members of our community about the importance of road safety, particularly when crossing busy roads and around school pick-up areas.

“Please ensure that students and families remain aware of their surroundings, use designated crossing areas where possible, and take extra care during busy afternoon traffic times.”

Another child was riding a scooter on Harborne Street, near the intersection of Leeder Street, in Glendalough when they were struck by a bus around 4.35pm.

The kid was rushed by St John ambulance under lights and sirens to Royal Perth Hospital.

The child has serious injuries.
