Telethon Kids Institute to gather medical data in the region with the establishment of the East Pilbara base

Telethon Kids Institute will establish a base in the East Pilbara to gather vital medical data following a Shire endorsement to lease office space to the organisation at Newman House. The world’s leading medical research institute for children will work with locals and rural communities in the North West, collecting data in real time to inform paediatric medical research and practice. They will occupy three office spaces and one reception area of the west wing of the facility. Founded in 1990, The Telethon Kids Institute is a not-for-profit group who conduct medical research at Perth’s Children’s Hospital. Shire of East Pilbara president Anthony Middleton said council prided itself on offering not-for-profits the opportunity to conduct their vital research in the area. “Telethon Kids institute is so well known. It’s a proud moment to have them settle in the East Pilbara and gather vital data that will help thousands of remote kids across the region,” he said. The new tenancy will raise to capacity of Newman House to 84 per cent. The lease will expire on March 31, 2022.
