Authorities have downgraded a watch and act warning for a fire burning 120km northwest of Brisbane but urged residents to stay informed about the ongoing threat.

The blaze at Gregors Creek, north of Toogoolawah, was still going on Tuesday afternoon but the risk level had reduced, with Queensland Fire Emergency Service declaring there was no threat to property or the community.

Earlier, authorities had alerted the community to a “large fast-moving fire” and advised residents in the area to prepare to leave.
