The Town of Port Hedland has released the South Hedland place draft plan for public comment.

The draft plan includes several initiatives to roll out over the next four years, including the creation of a South Hedland town team to include residents in decision making.

Other proposed actions include updates to Wise Terrace, a bigger focus on security and safety, promoting local creatives and hospitality and delivering cultural way-finding.

Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter welcomed the council’s decision to initiate the draft plan and encouraged residents to provide comments.

“As a local government, we’re excited to be moving towards place-based approaches to planning featuring more community involvement,” he said.

“The draft plan focuses on delivering tangible outcomes for the community, including making Wise Terrace inviting through better accessibility and more greenery, making the space feel safer and more welcoming and finding ways to support local creatives and hospitality operators in the vicinity.”

The draft plan can be viewed at The Town Of Port Hedland website.
