Minnesota have become the first team to progress in the NBA playoffs, after a 122-116 win over Phoenix took them to a 4-0 series sweep.

Anthony Edwards scored 40 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 28 as the Timberwolves pulled away late.

Edwards scored 31 of his points in the second half and finished 13 of 23 from the field, including seven of 13 from 3-point range.

Continuing his ascent to superstardom, the 22-year-old threw down a powerful, one-handed jam to give Minnesota a 115-111 lead with 2:14 left.

Phoenix would never recover.

The Suns’ season is over, despite Devin Booker’s 49 points on 13 of 21 shooting. He also made 20 of 21 free throws.

Kevin Durant added 33, but the rest of the team struggled.

Minnesota coach Chris Finch left the game late in the fourth after an inadvertent collision with Wolves guard Mike Conley.

The Timberwolves now wait to see whether they will face the Denver Nuggets or Los Angeles Lakers in the second round.

In Indianapolis, Myles Turner scored 29 points, Tyrese Haliburton added 24 and the Pacers made a franchise playoff record 22 three-pointers as they pulled away late for a 126-113 victory over Milwaukee.

The win gave Indiana a 3-1 lead in the series. They can reach the Eastern Conference semi-finals for the first time since 2014 with a road win over the Bucks on Wednesday.

Turner also had nine rebounds and four assists against a Bucks squad that was missing injured All-Stars Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) and Damian Lillard (achilles).

Milwaukee’s depth took an even bigger hit when Bobby Portis Jr was ejected with 5:01 left in the first quarter.

Brook Lopez led the Bucks, who are trying to avoid a second straight first-round exit, with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Khris Middleton added 25 points, 10 boards and five assists.

In Philadelphia, Jalen Brunson recorded the highest-scoring game of his playoff career, and the highest by a New York player in the post-season.

He had 47 points and 10 assists as the Knicks beat the 76ers 97-92 to take a 3-1 lead in their series.

Paul George and James Harden each scored 33 points to help the Los Angeles Clippers hold on after blowing a 31-point lead to beat the Mavericks 116-111 in Dallas, levelling their series at 2-2.

Kyrie Irving scored 40 points for the hosts while Luka Doncic had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in his fourth career playoff triple-double - all of them against the Clippers.
